Downpour
I can ask her
to stay all I want;
but what man leaves
a woman alone in the rain?
Try as she may,
this cold rain
will never become
warm tears.
Mortals can only
deign
contest the designs
of the Divine.
But in this neverending
night, this eternal downpour,
there is no umbrella,
no overcoat to shelter.
There is only a
downpour;
this rain will never stop
and we can never smile.
If ever the Creator
felt remorse,
He’d at least send enough rain
to hide the tears of my body.
